Arenal Canyoning & Waterfall Rappelling

The Arenal Canyoning & Waterfall Rappelling tour is one of the most exciting adventure experiences in the La Fortuna area. It takes you into a tropical canyon where rainforest, flowing water, rock walls, and natural waterfalls come together in a fun and active outdoor experience.

This is not just a sightseeing tour. You move through the rainforest, walk inside canyon terrain, descend beside waterfalls, and enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by the wild, green scenery that makes Arenal such a special destination.

Local guide note:

Canyoning is a great choice if you want something more adventurous than a regular hike, but still guided and organized. You do not need to be an expert climber or rappeller. The guides explain the equipment, help with the technique, and support you through the different sections of the canyon.

Tour Highlights

  • Experience canyoning in the La Fortuna and Arenal area.
  • Rappel beside beautiful rainforest waterfalls.
  • Move through a tropical canyon surrounded by jungle and volcanic scenery.
  • Enjoy a more active adventure than a traditional nature walk.
  • Receive guidance and instructions before each rappelling section.
  • Enjoy a complete adventure experience with water, snack, lunch, guides, and safety equipment included.

What to Expect

Rainforest Canyons & Waterfall Rappelling

The experience normally begins with a safety briefing and equipment fitting. Your guides will explain how the rappelling system works, how to position your body, and what to expect during the descents.

Once inside the canyon area, the tour becomes more active. You may walk on natural terrain, pass through wet sections, and descend beside waterfalls using ropes and safety equipment. The exact route and order of activities can vary depending on weather, canyon conditions, and the operation of the day.

A Real Adventure Setting

What makes this tour special is the setting. You are not simply looking at a waterfall from a viewpoint. You are inside the landscape, surrounded by rocks, water, forest, and the sounds of the canyon.

Expect to get wet, use your hands and feet, and participate actively throughout the tour. It is a fun experience, but it does require a reasonable comfort level with movement, uneven ground, and water.

Important activity note:

This is an active adventure tour. Guests should be comfortable getting wet and walking on natural, uneven, and sometimes slippery terrain. Restrictions may apply depending on age, weight, mobility, weather, or safety conditions.
