Bijagua Night Walk & Local Dinner

Discover Costa Rica after dark on this guided Bijagua night walk, one of the best rainforest areas in Guanacaste for frogs, reptiles, insects, and nocturnal wildlife. Located near Tenorio Volcano, Bijagua has a cooler, wetter rainforest environment that becomes especially active at night.

This experience combines a guided rainforest night hike with a traditional Costa Rican dinner at a local restaurant in Bijagua. It is a great option for travelers staying in the Papagayo Gulf area who want real rainforest wildlife without needing to spend the night in the mountains.

Local guide note:

Night walks are completely different from daytime tours. The forest sounds louder, small details become more important, and many animals that hide during the day become active after sunset.

What to Expect

Drive to Bijagua Rainforest

After pickup, we drive toward the lush rainforest region of Bijagua, near Tenorio Volcano. The change in climate is noticeable: the air becomes cooler, greener, and more humid than the beach areas of Guanacaste.

Guided Night Walk

As the sun sets, your certified naturalist guide leads you through a private reserve trail with flashlights, moving slowly and carefully to search for wildlife. The goal is not to rush through the trail, but to notice the small movements, sounds, colors, and details that make the rainforest come alive at night.

Wildlife is natural and never guaranteed, but Bijagua is one of the strongest areas in Guanacaste for nocturnal rainforest activity, especially frogs and reptiles.

Traditional Local Dinner

After the night walk, enjoy a traditional Costa Rican dinner at a local restaurant in Bijagua. It is fresh, simple, and authentic — a nice way to finish the evening after exploring the rainforest.
