🐢 Sea Turtle Nesting Night Tour – Tortuguero National Park
Witness one of nature’s most powerful and emotional rituals.
Every year between July and October, the beaches of Tortuguero National Park transform into one of the most sacred sites in nature — where green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) emerge from the ocean under the cover of night to lay their eggs in the sand.
This is not just a tour. It’s a silent, respectful journey into the heart of Costa Rica’s conservation story — guided by licensed local naturalists, and experienced under the stars.
🌙 What to Expect
Your certified SINAC guide will lead you along the beach in near darkness, listening for movement and scanning the sands. If lucky, you’ll witness:
A sea turtle emerging from the sea
Nest digging with powerful flippers
Laying of up to 100+ eggs
The turtle carefully camouflaging her nest before returning to the ocean
If the full process is observed quickly, the tour may end in less than 2 hours — out of respect for the turtles and park guidelines.
